CA Allis oil press.

I have a CA Allis that runs good,no smoke and no engine noise.It also has no oil press.I removed the oil filter and started the engine for a second and very little oil came to the filter.I used the tractor with a disk for over an hour and the guy I bought it from said he had been bushhogging with it.The oil guage was obscured with dried oily crud. Any suggestions on increasing oil press short of new oil pump.

With the filter off, the oil should pour out of the filter tube. If it has no oil flowing out the tube it could need primed. If it has some small amount of oil comming out the tube it is most likely the oil pump its self.

These tractors have low oil pressure anyway, only about 13lbs. I would start with the pickup tube screen in the oil pan. When i droped the pan on my CA the screen had a film af crud all over it. Put a mixture of diesel and oil, 3:1, in it and run it at idle for a few minutes just long enough to get it warn. DO NOT rev the engine! Drain this out and refill with a good oil and new filter. I would recommend a Fram C139 filter, The others wont let any pressure build up due to there construction. I have used this method on all three of my tractors and seems to work great. My son is a mechanic at the local dodge dealership and has may connections with all the shops in our area. You may need to remove the small oil lines for the head and govener and clean then out with a small wire or replace them if they are pluged to bad. The oil pan can be a pain to reset and keep from leeking but is possable with patience. Hope you enjoy that little jewel they are fun. My emil is open fill free to ask more questions if needed.

Thanks Dick and Michael,this tractor came out of a shed in Tn.where it had been sitting inside with the equip. for several years.The guy said it didn't take much to start and was running very good.He had it for over a year and used it for bushhogging.I obtained it from him along with a nice 2 row cult.,disk,2 breaking plows-one a 2 disk and the other a 2 flat bottom and a cycle bar mower,all in good cond and with the Allis hitch.It has a wide front also.I used the disk on it for over an hour and it ran super,no smoke or noises from engine.When I cleaned the oil gauge and saw no oil press.I became worried.I removed the oil filter and started the engine and saw little or no oil flow.I will pull the pan next week and see how it looks inside. The gauge seems to work with air press.I will probably be contacting you after I pull the pan. Thanks again.
