I recently saw at the Central Hawkeye Antique Acres show at Waukee Ia a Field Marshall tractor like the one described by Anthony West at the front of the page and the other was a, I think its spelled, KAEBEL. This one was a single cylinder diesel with an open flywheel. Kind of looked like a large stationary engine mounted on a short frame. It even appeared to have a water jacket and no radiator like the old hit and miss engines. Been to seven county fairs and never saw anything like it. Brian

Brian: There's a fellow down south of here who has a Lanz Bulldog. 1956, robin's egg blue with red wheels, single cylinder diesel with six speed transmission, live hydraulics, a real sturdy piece of machinery. Saw him ploughing some real tough sod pulling 4-16's trail plough. You wouldn't have believed the sound. With your Field marshall, watch somebody start one with a "power cartridge". Just like a blank shotgun shell. Put it in the chamber, POW, and it's running. Different strokes, I guess. Tom

That power cartridge must go a long way toward eliminating the hand crank. Brian
