I have an old Unstyled Allis WC that I am tearing down And Noticed that it has A crack between each of the sleeves. Not going to the outside to the outside of the block but just a the narrowest part between the Cylinders. Anybody know what has caused it? Weak Block? kind of an early allis Trademark? Freezing??? I see no externall signs of freezing anywhere. Thankyou for your time and Help
Sincerely
Brian

Kind've an early Allis thing. If the deck hasn't shifted ie: you can run your fingernail across the crack and not feel a bump, then it's fine to run. If it's in the wbbing at the bottom of the cylinders, thats an issue. It could let water into the oil. If it's just the top and nothing has moved, run it. I put one together that way and it runs just fine.
