Can my 1953 CA be adapted to a 3pt?

I just got a new (old) 1953 CA. I don"t really know much about the type of hitch it has. From the manuals I have it looks like the whole hitch assembly is missing. The lift portion is there, though. I have two questions for now:
1) Does anyone know where I can get an original hitch ("drawbar") assembly?
2) Is there a way to adapt up to modern 3pt hitches while still keeping the original hardware?

Turns out I have a 1956 CA. It was advertised as a 1953, but when I checked the serial number it is a '56.

For the original drawbar assembly you will need to look at tractor salvage yards. If you go to part on this site and look up three point hitches under Allis Chalmers ytou will find what I believe to be on of the better hitch assemblies. The one they show for the CA has the swinging drawbar included.

Roger, think of the snap coupler as an upside dwon 3 point hitch. under the transmission you will see a coupler or bail hitch. at the back you have two lift arms that are raised and lowered by a cylinder. the implements have a long armwith a round eye at the front that snaps into the bail under the tractor and the lift arms connect 3-4 feet behind the eye and lift the implement. ----- you can change to a regular 3 point hitch by retaining your upper lift arms, and adding two long 3 point ARMS at the bottom. one way to do this it to have an A- frame arrangement with an eye that couples to your present bail, and then seperates into two lower arms at the back. your upper arms then lift the lower arms with links or chains attached. you then need the top center anchor. thes can be bought or made.

Several people sell 3 point conversions for a CA. Just search the parts section here or do a web search. I like Cross Mfg. products, I think they make one for a CA.

Yes, but you will need to make it. I did it on my CA without the need for a welder. Send me an email, and I'll send you a picture.

I have the "snap coupler" type setup. My manual says that started in January 1954, but I was told the tractor was 1953.

Off the top of my head, I don't recall just when the snap coupler became standard equipment on the WD or WD45, and the CA. Before the snap coupler bell there was a pin hitch under the tractor and it is/was very simple to add the snap coupler bell to the tractor and replace the pin hitch on the implement tongues with the snap coupler eye. I think that most of the pin hitch tractors and implements have been converted to snap coupler by now. It makes changing implements about 100% easier.
