for the starting circuit--- you need a ignition switch, starter solenoid, and a starter. you take a small 12 volt wire off the key, run to the solenoid and ground the other side. when the solenoid is energised, it connects two large lug (screw) terminals. one is a 4 gauge wire from the + battery, the other lug is a 4 gauge wire to the starter.----- for the ingition circuit, you need an ignition switch, coil, and distributor with point. the key puts 12 volts to the + side of the coil, and the - side of the coil goes to the distributor point.----- for the charge circuit, you need the alternator with internal voltage regulator, and a 10 ohm resistor, and ignitions switch. the big 1/4 inch threaded lug on the alternator goes to the battery + terminal, you have two small spade terminals #1 aand #2 on the side of alternator. #2 is 12 volts all the time. it can be connected to the ampmeter, or the 1/4 inch lug on the altertnator to get its power. the #1 terminal is hot only when running. you get 12 volts from the key switch, run thru the 10 ohm resistor, and connect to the #1 terminal. the resistor drops the voltage slightly and makes the alternator charge better.
