Which cylinder is #1,the one closest to the ra diator or the one closest to the starter? Also does anyone have a wiring diagram to convert to a 12 volt system including lights?

Bob, do you plan to use an alternator, or stay with a generator? There is a kit that can be purchased from AGCO that includes a regulator and wiring to convert to 12 volts. As far as lights are concerned, just switch to bulb # 1156 for the headlights and taillight. If you decide on an alternator, a GM type with the regulator built in is the easiest to wire. You have to change to negative ground on the battery, reverse the wires at the ammeter, and connect the wire thats on the battery terminal of the cutout relay to the battery terminal on the alt. The two small terminals on the alternator #1 goes to the battery, and #2 goes to the ign switch. On the wire to the switch, a diode must be used or the engine will not shut off with the switch. #1 cylinder is the one closest to the radiator. Hope this helps. Brian
P.S. If I'm wrong with the two small wires, the alternator will stay "on" with the engine off and run the battery down. Brian
