Allis D14 Hyd Leaking Down, losing fluid somewhere

Guys, I really need help with this one, my hydraulics are leaking down quite quickly after raising the mower. During operation I"m also losing hydraulic fluid somewhere and there are no exterior leaks. What"s really weird is it seems my transmission fluid level is rising.

My IT manual does not show a seal between the rear hyd ram housing and the transmission. Any ideas on what might be going on would be appreciated!

I had exactly the same problem on my D-17. As Gatz says, it is one of two things - ruptured hose or leaking cylinder seals. I would go though two quarts of hydraulic fluid in 10 minutes. My pulldown revealed the problem to be the cylinder seals. The hose tested good (I connected it to my D-14 auxiliary output for test). New cylinder seals came to about $15 from Allis Chalmers. You'll need the rear gasket for the lift arm housing as well (another $15). Be sure to drain both the differential and the transmission. I did only the differential. When I pulled the lift housing off, oil poured out of the pto opening and made a horrible mess in my shop.

The seal is made up of an O-Ring and two cork type seal rings. My D-17 had only one of the cork seal rings. The O-Ring had chunks missing.

It was a pretty serious job on a D-17. A D-14 will be a little easier.

More than likely you have a ruptured hose...the one going to the lift cylinder inside the lift arm housing.
It could also be a leaking cylinder seal, although this would be a gradual & slower leak.
It requires removal of the housing and then you'll be able to see what's going on.
You'll need a new gasket for the housing.
