I recently bought an old AC forklift.It turns out that the engine is shot. Rod brg. turned which ruined the crank and one rod. The eng. is a Buda 153. I bought a used crankshaft which needed to be turned down .020 as the original one was already at .020 and .030. The rod I used was from an old 262 Buda that was scrap. It seemed to fit perfectly. The only manual I could get for this engine was an IT Cockshutt 30 manual. I had the valve guides knurled and bought new valves. The exhaust valves are too tight and I don't have a reamer. I was wondering if there's a substitute tool, ie: grinding compound and an old valve stem? and possibly an electric drill?? I ground the seats which turned out ok, 45 degrees. The seats are approximately 1/16" in width, which looks good. Any ideas about reaming the guides??

I have an AC D15 forklift. I got an engine out of a regular forklift at a bone yard near me in Western, Pa. He had several others if you need one.

Just got the AC running about half an hour ago. Wouldn't you know it? Had to change the thermostat that worked BEFORE I overhauled the engine, but of course stuck and required replacement. Otherwise, no leaks no problem, 30lbs oil pressure, should run another 30 years. Thanks for your help. I'll maybe post a picture after we get it painted and looking like new.

Got my guides reamed yesterday, and head installed. Engine should be installed today. Should run like a Rolex! I'll post later with results.

A valve guide reamer or put in some of the bronze liners. These places have tools and liners. Link and Link

I don't have any listing for that engine. You might try these: thecarburetorshop dot com or zenithfuelsystems dot com or find someone that has a parts book listing for the E60 engine.
