Does anyone know what is used to meter the amount of oil sprayed on the timing gears? This flat head is in an AC fork lift and has the oil fill tube on the timing cover. Thanks in advance,Dave.

In other waukesha engines the front main bearing meters the oil to the timeing gears. If the holes in the bearing are not lined up correctly or plugged you get no oil.

Larry, my problem is so much oil flow that at working rpm, the oil doesn't return to the pan fast enough and fills the cover to the point of being forced out the filler tube. This motor has over 45# of oi; press at 1800rpm.

45 seems way high for that moter. Most of my experince is with newer engines. One thing that happens is the restrictor to the oil filter gets plugged and no oil flows through it,raiseing preasure. You could try the oliver board they used waukesha engines.
