Replacing a front seal on a 53 CA which doesn"t seem like it is going to be too bad of a job.The one thing I would like to know is if someone could clarify the procedure to get the timing gear cover properly aligned on front of block so new seal does not leak. I have heard that there is a tool or jig for this, but I obviously do not have one and I have heard that this has to be just right. Thanks for any ideas.

Place cover on engine and finger snug the bolts Place seal over the crankshaft stub backwards of the way it is supposed to install and slide up close to the cover so you can eyeball the relationship of the seal OD to the ID of the seal bore in the cover. Move cover around to align and tighten bolts. Turn seal around and knock it in. Done.

Center the entire assembly on the crankshaft and tighten it down.
