carb to governor link A C B

My 1939 A/C B has a spring at the junction between the governor arm and the rod to the carb. The rod on the gov and the rod to the carb both have 'eyes' swedged and drilled, with a short light spring connecting them. However the I&T Shop Manual shows a 'hard' pin and eye connection. My rod from the carb to this point has a 15 degree bend up so the eyes would not line up to insert a separate pin. The other night, I shortened the spring and got another couple of hundred rpm out of the engine. I need to recheck it with a tach, but suspect I'll at least have more power. I'll try and insert a scanned image of page 29 of the #AC-11 manual.

I assume you are talking about the crank arm that attaches to the carburetor throttle shaft at one end and the governor linkage at the other. That part on my B measures about 1-5/8", hole center-to-center. I say about because it's hard to get a perfect measurement without carburetor removal. That's for a Zenith carburetor (#212845).
