Well, I finally managed to find a belt pulley for my 44 C. However, the nut (?and washer?) are long since gone. Is this a standard size or a specialty nut? Anyone happen to know the thread size?

Hi Ryan,

My B parts book lists that nut as a hex jam nut, 1" - fine thread for 1939 and later. I suspect your C would be the same. The AC part number is 906910. The standard fine thread for 1" (UNF) is 12 tpi. So, lacking actual measurement, it should be a 1"-12 UNF hex jam nut. Those ought to be available from McMaster Carr. Note: there is a 1"-14 NS thread in a special series, so to be absolutely positive, an exact tpi measurement would be in order. My bet would be on the 1"-12.

My parts catalog doesn't even show the number of the nut. Get a caliper and measure the OD of the shaft. From that we can make a pretty good guess at the number of threads. You can also open the caliper one inch, lay it on the shaft and count the threads. I just had mine off during restore so my memory says it to be be about a 1". Standard fine thread is 14 but it seems like there may have been more making it a special. If it is 1 1/8, fine thread is 12.

A good arco-ag dealer should be able to help you with that. I had a problem this summer with a piece of equipment and a broken bolt. I called him and was back up and running in 30 minutes. Why well because I got the size of the bolt over the phone and then went to a hardware store and picked up a few.
