I'm a novice when it comes to A-C tractors, but was curious as to what's involved in replacing transmission gears. Is this small, medium or large project. Are the replacement gears still available? Thanks!

As Don said, you have to disassemble the tractor from the back forward to the tranny. Not a hard job once you get the tranny on the bench, although you need the manual to know the preload of the bearings and how to shim them for load.

The gears are still available, but I hope you have deep pockets.

Good luck!!

Large project. Rear housing, final drive assy, rear end has to come out. Then trans is disassemled on the bench. I have done this on my d14

Can only guess on that one but almost all tractors have to be split to do tranny work. Doing that can be hard with out all the right stuff.
