Allis 7000 timing plate

just got off the phone with the agco dealer talking about this timing plate gasket on my 7000. It has started leaking so I know I am going to need to replace it. I talked to Sam, and he told me that I would be able to just loosen it up without taking off the timing gears. Then when I talked to the dealer, he told me that I would probably have to take off the frong end and side rails. I am going to opt for sams opinion in this one because I know he is not trying to sell me more parts. They also said that I need a special puller from agco to pull the front pulley, is there anything that I can use that won't cause me a 100 dollars on a deposit? Any other suggestions on this process would be very helpful. I am trying to get as much info before I start because I have to go back to school this sunday and am trying to figure out if I can get it all done in time. Thanks.

I assume you are talking of the adapter plate that bolts to the block, and not the timeing cover that is at the very front of the engine. I would think you"d have to remove the plate rather than loosen it as it"s very seldom that a gasket will come out in one piece and not stick to either the plate or the block. I"ve not owned a 7000 series so I"m not sure of the room allowed in front of the crank, but I run two 649T"s (301 cubic inch) on irrigators and that"s what I"m basing my suggestion off of.
