I have a D12 seris 3 with a stripped clutch shaft,and also the main trans. shaft where they spline together is stripped. It is the later of the 12's (90001 and up) does anyone have any ideas on where to find parts or maybe fixing these?

I have seen the coupling for the live pto stip before. It happened on my brothers D-10 seris III. I'm not sure if the parts are available or not. My brother made a new coupling, but he's a tool maker. Yhe shafts are not very large, to answer Teaxs Denny,s question, and the tractor in question can generate moore than the rated hp. It's the same displacement as a D-14.

I'd try your Agco dealer. I don't think there is a way to fix a spline. You must either make one or buy a replacement.

I wonder how these items got ruined. I can't imagine it happening. Is the transmission and engine OK?

Yes, the rest of the trans. is ok. I was pulling a small square baler and I suppose the constant rocking of the plunger caused it. I'm not going to use it in the field anymore. I think it should be possible to weld up the end and re-machine the splines. Any thoughts?

Hi, sorry about not posting email address. I have done alot of welding and machine work in the past, and I do believe it can be fixed. I just don't have access to the right machinery. Some of the spline is still visible,my only concern is the shaft is hollow and only about.125 thick. Welding might mess up the hardness or warp??

I don't think you can weld up steel to make a spline very easily - particularily if the shaft is hollow. Warping or twisting would be a big concern. I think you'd be better off with new material.

I've cut splines but I don't have an indexing head for my mill so I can't do it now. Probably a used one is the best choice.
