Need a good description and/or pic (that an inept mechanic like me can see) of the way a hydraulic pump hooks on the PTO Housing of the Allis B

the factory hydraulic pump is a valve/ pump combination. it slides into the pto housing on the right rear corner and held in with 4 studs. pump and pickup are inside, valve body is outside. the "valve" is actually a spool pointing out toward the right of the tractor that is rotated 90 degrees with a small lever under the seat. coil spring loaded to return to neutral positon.---- if you presently dont have a pump, see if your pto housing has a 1/8 inch steel plate about 3 inches square on the right rear side. remove the plate and you will see two cam lobes on the back end of the pto shaft. the lobes run the pump up and down (two section short stroke).--- now if you dont have a sheetmetal cover, or the lobes are not on the pto shaft, you have a problem. some were ordered without.

How do I tell? That is other than the obvious. I do not have a plate, just and indentation type punchout with no studholes etc. Can I remove the PTO housing to see if its setup inside?

you can pull the housing and look inside, but most guys that are selling parts off "old" tractors and selling the housing, with the pto shaft and bearing already mounted. you can buy this with or witout the pump mounted. you need to look at e-bay, or someof the parts guys. post a note here or at allischalmers dot com and you will get a couple parts vendors to respond. you are in the $150 range to get the setup.
