D-15 transmission

I have a series II D-15, I know they are bad about jumping out of third gear. Have had it about a year and a half and it always did jump out on down hill slope or if I would hit a bump too fast. Always just held it in gear going down hill. But here in the last week it jumps out all the time for no reason at all, doesn"t matter up hill or down, load or no load it just does not want to stay in. It does feel different when I hold it in, before you could tell it was in. Now it dosen"t feel like it"s in. what can be done to fix this and if I need parts who would have them?

might think about parting it out. it will be expensive and probably not feasible to repair. these tractors dont sell very high, even if they are perfect.

Chad, new gears would solve the problem for sure - but it is expensive. Sometimes, service can be regained by new (or different) forks. In all probability, the gears are not worn beyond use but the forks won't allow full engagement. It is a tough or expensive thing to solve.

You will need new gears, you can get them from the local chalmers dealer, they"re not cheap, and its not just an afternoons job changing them, you gotta remove and completly gut the trans and rear end, then you need new seals and gaskets. Just went through a D-14 trans, just over $1600 for parts.
