A friend of mine priced me a 58 model d-17 wide front no power steering snap coupler with sickle bar mower 6' bush hog 2 bottom plow for 4000.00. he said sheet metal is real good and runs out real nice. Is this too much?? I am partial to the red ones but my wifes dad ran the allis dealer in my town for 20 years. I will be able to get permission from her on an orange one easier. Thanks for any feed back,

In Texas, $2500 is about right for the tractor alone. No power steering is a negative on a D-17. Tires make a big difference in value. The term "good" has a large meaning range. I got a 6' shredder at a consignment auction for $300. Might have $500 of equipment. $3000 seems more right to me.

A 6" brush hog in good shape is worth around $500. A 2 bottom plow around $50. and the mower is maybe $300. Now there are a lot of things that affect the value of the tractor. Is it a gas tractor? Diesel is worth a little more. How are the tire? New ones could run you around $600. Does the tractor come with a 3 point conversion? They are about $300. Is the transmission good, does it jump out of any gears? That will cost you big bucks to fix if it does. An average gas D-17 with fair tires, that doesn"t jump out of gear is worth around $3000. in my area. If everything is pretty top notch then the price isn"t too bad. If it needs tires and transmission work, doesn"t come with a 3 point adapter and the equipment is just so-so, then it pretty darn high.

I forgot to mention, I'm considering it to be a wide front tractor, if it's narrow that should be $300 to $500 less. If it should happen to be single front wheel, it would be valuable to a collector.

In my area a D-17 series 1 goes for around $2500-3000. So to me I'd say its a little high. plus no power steering that makes in in the low end of what I believe its worth. Also the tires make a good part of what one is worth also.

John and Old- I agree with your prices for D17 and attachments, but you guys report WD45 prices well under $1000 in your area. Here they typically go 15-1900 for average units. WDs go 8-1100. Any idea why they are cheaper a couple states south?

I'm not sure when I valued WD45's at well under $1000. In MO WD's are pretty much like you said $800 to $1100, maybe just a little less like $700 - $1000. WD45's $1200 - $1500, once in a while around $1000 or as high as $1800. There are lots and lots of them and they aren't big enough for a lot of people and they don't look a real tractor (8N Ford) to some others.

Why are the WDs and WD45 cheaper in the midwest?

There were a lot of them sold here. There are still a lot of them around and running.

Real farmers need much larger tractors and people with estates are looking for the smaller tractors to mow the lawn with. The WD series falls between the two.

SOUNDS HIGH, Given the year, and especially considering it doesn't have power steering which is really needed on a D17.
The D17 is a 3 to 4 bottom plow tractor. Is the 2-bottom plow a S/C ? This seems to be an odd application; perhaps the plow came from an earlier Allis like a WD.
An 80R (rear mount)sickle mower is good; however a side mount (or even the 80R) on a D17 can be a big problem without PS. You'll wish it had it after 20 acres.

have not seen the tires but he said they are in good shape. Not sure about the sickle mower whether it is rear or side mount. The trans is in good shape but the hi /lo stick is loose. Will drive it today or tomorrw and will let yall know!! Thanks for all of the input!!
