Allis B Cane tractor with D series engine

I found a 1955 Allis B Cane Special on the ineternet which I eventually bought. I now have it closer to me and we have found that the engine has been changed and it seems that its from a D10, D12 or D14 since the casting number is AM 4339-14. I saw a 1956 Allis B block which had AM4033-1 on it so I"m thinking it should be close to that number if not the same.

Question is since I already have $1800 into this thing is to either restore it with the existing engine or go original. Not sure what leaving the existing engine would do to a selling price. Not sure if Allis collectors are as picky as some JD collectors.

Can anyone offer a suggestion on what they would do?

Yes, I'll probably go with the CE engine just because its a Cane. If it wasn't I'd keep what I got. I did find a CE engine thats close. Its suppose to have been overhauled and then let sit. Hopefully its fine. The D series engine would be taken in trade if the engine is good. But I'm getting 2 prices. Not sure how much a CE would run price wise. I do know that the D series engine I have is loose and was running prior to me buying it. The tractor had a starter issue thats fixed now but I haven't tried to start it because the carb needs attention.
