Fix a hydraulic cylinder?

Hope you can help me with a WD45 hydraulic cylinder leak. It seems to be leaking where there are what looks like threads on the main barrel of the cylinder. Will I need an entire rebuild kit(if available) or is there an O ring that I can replace? I have never rebuilt a hydraulic cylinder. Any ideas?
Thanks,
D

I have a 1951 WD that had leaking hydraulic cylinders. What I did was unscrew the top threaded section from the cylinder, clean the thread really good. Once that is done, I purchased some hydraulic system epoxy from an auto parts store. Follow the mixing directions. Apply the epoxy to the threads on the main section of the cylinder, and then screw the top section back onto the cylinder. Let this dry completely (I waited a week). My cylinders have not leaked a drop since I did this.

Hope this helps!
Brian

Thanks Brian. I took it apart tonight, before I read your post. I cleaned the threads and put some teflon tape on them. I tightened it and will see if that works. If it still leaks, I will follow your directions. Thanks again,
D.
