I have seen the Worksaver 3pt conversion, but am not happy with the price. I have seen previous posts of guys making their own. If anyone still has pictures of home made ones can they please email me. I have included my email for this post. About how much would building one cost me. I am looking at a tedder that would need the 3 pt. and as I upgrade equipment I see that 3 pt. is easier to find.

I have a work saver 3 point for one of our C's. I got off ebay for $280, it had been installed on a B to make it easier to sell but the new buyer did not want it. I like it a lot but you have to watch out as the front end gets pretty light with bigger implements on it. The Cross seems like a nice setup, but I have no experience with them. The one advantage to the worksaver is it comes off quickly I have quick connects for the three point and the Allis lift cylinder's for when we put the cultivators back on. This won't be an issue once the other C is back together as the cultivators will stay on it Permanently. I do a lot of fabricating at work and unless I was going to make 2 or three hitches I honestly don't think that you could do it for the price of the Cross hitch. I really like the C on the York Rake, It is really nice to use and you cant beat the visibility on the C.

I was noticing in the HPOCA mag that the Oliver S44 had a 3 point on it that used brackets to bolt the front of the lower links to the finals, similar to the factory Allis B plow brackets. If your tractor already has hydraulics a very simple rockshaft can be built (imitate the existing rockshaft but put lift points on both sides for the lower links). The hardest part I've seen is the load limit of the frame angles and the locatin of the upper bracket.

I figured about $200 of metal and parts to make one capable of more than very light work. On the other hand, you're not going to pick up or pull a 2 bottom plow with a 2000# tractor.

WOW! I see what you mean. That does not look like the quality of materials or workmanship that have seen in other Cross Mfg. conversions. That kind of looks like a Jr. High shop class project and a C or C- at that.

I have a Worsaver on my B, it works great. You can break them though. One of the welds broke on the bottom right corner by the cylinder. I think it happened because the attaching bolt came loose. I welded it back together. I've used a boom pole, carry all, blade & scoop. You can get the parts diagram off of the Worksaver site, that may give you some ideas on building your own. I was ready to make my own, when I found mine used in the classifieds.

I have to agree with you that they do seem pricey. But, unless you"ve already got almost everything you need to build one, and it"s GOOD quality stuff, you are going to invest a quite a bit of money in just getting all the materials. Either way, once you have that, you need to get the design and engineering right or you will have a big headache everytime you try and use it. So unless you"ve got access to a 3 point conversion for that model tractor that works good, and then, if you don"t mind stealing someone elses pattened design, you will most likely find when it is all said and done, that the price of buying one already designed and made wasn"t really too bad.
