First off, I know I need to get the manuals, but i don"t have them yet. Does anyone have an exploded view of the front spindle on the Allis B? Mine moves up and down about 1/4 inch (slop). I thought maybe there were bearings, or some sort of spacer that is missing. I"m going to put in new bushings for side to side slop, but not sure about the up and down. Any help is sincerely appreciated..... Stan

I just got done rebuilding the front end on my WD-45. It's very similar to the arrangement that Rod showed you in the exploded view. On mine, though, there were a pair of hardened steel washers between the spindle housing and the hub for the wheel axle. You could fit those into your assembly very easily (if you can get the spindle off the tractor). Just find a local bearing supply house and with the spindle shaft diameter as the I.D. and the housing tube as the O.D., they can fix you up with some Timken TR-series thrust washers. You'll have to go with whatever standard sizes are available, but I'll bet you find something close. The washers come in several thicknesses in each size, so you can order what works best for you.

Just grease them up as you assemble the spindle, and you'll be in business. The hard surface will last for a very long time.

There are no thrust bearings or spacers. Here's the exploded view:

Could it be your vertical slop is due to wear? I suppose you could make a special spacer to minimize that slop. It's not supposed to be there.

your axle end tubes will be mushroomed on the bottom from wear. fix as mentioned and add the washers, it works well.
