Anybody know how many Allis Chalmers D-12 seris III..Equipped with range tranmission,tach,front wieght,three point and hyd. outlet??My serial number is 9132..Thanks George

The first Series III was 9001. The last one was about 10172. Yours would have been the 132nd Series III.

Yes that's all true but didn't the D-10's,I-10's and the dozers all use the same 9000-10172 number plan?? So the question is how many D-12's like mine would have been made??Is there any production records from Allis or we just defactor it..Thanks George

It isn't really clear how they did the numbering on D-10 and D-12. What I am quoting is production data. My source says there were "approximately 1172 units" made as a D-12 Series III. They made about 1084 D-10 Series III. Both models started Series III at 9001. The "Belt Pulley" serial number book shows the 9001 D-12 being built in late 1964 (this would include your tractor). My second source agrees with that. Apparently there is a gap in the serial number at about 6500 to 9000 - no tractors with these numbers. When Series III came out, they jumped to 9001. These books suggest that the Series III D-10 tractors started in 1965.

Your headlights should be mounted on the fender and you should have a black oval muffler. Earlier models had the headlights on the sides of the radiator and the muffler was silver and round.

Your max speed is 11.4 mph, displacement is 149, max hp is 33.3, compression ratio is 7.5:1, length is 121", weight is 3051. The cost was $3285 in 1967.

Does the data you have factory in the I-10,I-40's and dozers??Does it also show the break down in options like the range tansmission??Thanks George..

Yes, it covers the I-40 and I-400. The last serial number of the I-40 was 1608. 554 were built. The last serial number of the I-400 was 1750. 748 were built. I don't have information about how many of each option were purchased. Such data would be of limited value as options could be added at any time.
