Well I did it this time I just bought a 190 plain not xt or any series. Let my neighbor use it and he blew a double fist hole in the block. he heard a noise and pulled the trottle on full. bang. Now this motor doesn't have turbo. I don't know much about it cept my wife is mad cause we never got to use it. Are there any other motors that will fit? A combine here has a gm 6cyl gas motorwill it work? The engine was just rebuilt and 2 endcaps were on backwards. help me get out of doghouse

What is the difrence between the 2500 and 2600 motors? I an interested in the motors, and the ones in the combines. thanks everyone My neigbor feel real bad as he has had the black cloud of bad luck following him,2 tractors cluches gone, and his IH 4586 engine blew, 2 mowers down and not abused. I have been letting him use my stuff cause he helped me when I needed it. You have combine demolition derby's?

I believe that these motors were the galoline engines used in the 180 (2500) and 190 (2600)???. The engine the 190 uses is the 2800 which is a naturally aspirated 6 cyl. 4.9 L (301 cubic inch) engine. This engine is also known as 649 (translates to 6 cyl. 4.9 L). The engine in the 190 is the same as the 180, 185, and the F2 (I am pretty sure about the combine). I am not sure what the differences between the engines are to change the HP, but most likely lie within the fuel pump. Hope this helps you out. Hurst

Have a neighbor that has 2 of the 2800 motors and 3 of the 2900 motors. All are for sale and are rebuildable (running when parked). If you are interested respond and leave your email open. Tim

Gleaner G had the 2800 engine in it. I was at an auction a few years back and watched one sell for $200....engine ran great. It probably wound up in the local combine demolition derby! I would have bought it if it wasn't 100 miles from home.

It was not your neighbors fault that the end caps were on Backwards...!!!!

He probably feels bad about it, too...!!

Go back to the rebuilder and see what he will do.

Good Luck.....!!

Ron.

There is an AC diesel engine on ebay that is supposedly a 180/185 engine with only 1900 hrs. I bet it would fit and would'nt be giving up much HP. Item #7167459783.

Some F Gleaner combines had the naturally aspirated 301 diesel in them. IF one could find one of them, it would fit but you"d probably have to change the adapter plates.

Wow! That is a bad deal. I don't have an engine and can't give you much more than moral support. I wouldn't be too hard on your neighbor (unless he was abusing the tractor). It is usually difficult to determine exactly why these things happen.

If the hole is below the water jacket, and you have the piece that popped out, the piece could probably be welded back into place by a good welder who knows welding cast iron. Or a cover could be made for the hole. The bottom of the engine will probably need to be gone through. Crank may need replacement with new bearings and one connecting rod. May wish to change the piston and sleeve on the one that broke.

If the hole is in the water jacket, it is more bleak and a block or engine may be best choice.

Pull pan off and determine extent of injury. Maybe you've already done that based on the endcap comment.

Even if you take this to an experienced welder the block will crack in another spot due to the expansion and contraction while cooling, if the hole is outside and not an internal water jacket their is a silver solder that is made specifically for this type of repair by Eutectic-Castolin bear in mind this is not cheap solder I myself have made these repairs using this silver solder method, the block must be taken out and the crack or patch has to be in the flat position, using an oxy-aceteylene torch with about a #2 tip, this solder is not like plumbers solder, but is a high strength solder that has to be applied like brazing and it uses a powdered flux check with Eutectic
