G clutch stuck

Working on a frends G, I steam cleaned it the other day and then parked it in the barn. today I went to get it out of the barn and the clutch will not realease.I blocked the clutch down and rocked it back and forth in first gear, no luck. any ideas?

Don is right on target --been there and done that--even have the t-shirt. This was a every spring ordeal for 20 some odd years after winter storage. Then I got this great idea--read the owners manual---It states that any extended storage ----LOCK THE CLUTCH PEDAL DOWN-- Not to many owners know this. Good luck Dave NE IA

Put the little guy in gear...now holding the clutch down start the egine....careful the tractor will be moving..... after you get out side put it in a higher gear,restart it drive around ,holding the clutch down....you will hit a bump and the clutch plate will come free.....

You can also have someone pull you around in 3rd gear with your foot off the clutch.....

Pull the starter and see if there is any junk plugging up the works. I don"t know how but mine had a mouse nest in it when I bought it.

Is the lever foot pedal stuck? It is possible that the linkage rusted up from the washing and the clutch pressure plate itself is okay. Disconnect the linkage and be certain all rotating items are free (and lubricated). The reassemble the linkage and try to depress the clutch. The linkage is the most likely problem as water can't easily get at the clutch because of the bell housing(torque tube).

As I recall, there is no access plate on a G. So if the clutch didn't loosen with linkage improvements, you may have to pull the engine. If you have an engine hoist, this can be done in about a half hour. If you depress the clutch pedal with the engine out, you'll need to make or find a clutch alignment tool in order to get the engine back in. While your in there, make sure the throw out bearing and pilot bushing are good to go.
