Have been working on a wc this summer. New alt, dist, cleaned gas tank out real good,been through the carb several times, two or three sets of plugs, chekced the mainifold for intake leaks, weights and everything seemed ok in govenor when I installed it. Just cant get the thing to run right. Real touchy when you first start it, have to play with choke alot until completely warm. Even then it runs real rough. third and fourth motor chokes and sputters real bad and the govenor gets bucky, until the clutch is all the way out. And it still runs rough. Just dont know what to do anymore, I just sit and talk to myself alot lately. Any other ideas PLEASE

Gov'ner:

Get the tractor running. Rotate the magneto or distributor by hand - quick check to see if the timing is off.

Patience - It might help to take a break from the problem for a while.

Sounds like it is time to check the timing. Bought a C that a guy couldn't get to run right, he was ready to junk it. I re-timed it and it still runs like a top.

Are you using champion plugs. If so switch to another brand. It works!

Swapped out the carb from a different ac. Tractor ran 80% better just in that. Better go back to carb re-building school. I think the timing is just fine, but on you guys' advice, I'm gonna pull shaft and back it up and advance it alittle and see if I got that wrong too. Thanks you guys. By the way Texas Denny, if your reading this, I might have solved the oil pressure problem, but I sure dug myself another hole.

Told you I was just about losing it Gene(MO). I thought i listed a post, but when I went back to the allis board, I did'nt see it anywhere. So I reposted it. Thanks guys. Gonna go dcheck the carb and timing again. Sooner or later I'm gonna win.
