Been working on a wc this summer. Ran into a snag. Changed out the motor,installed 12 dist. with alt,rebuild kit in dist, checked my fuel, checked manifold for intake leak, air filter, been in the carb so much, I do it in my sleep. Mechanically the governor seems fine. Plugs gapped at .35, points at .20, and valves are .10 straight accross. Timing is dead on. Tractor is real fussy when starting. Have to play with choke until its completely warm. runs rough. sometimes the govenor gets bucky just sitting there. In 3rd and 4th, the motor gets cranky as all heck until the clutch is all the way out, and then hiccups and coughs when it starts getting lugged. Ive been in the archives every night and asked everyone around for advice. Now all I do is walk in circles and talk to myself. Any other ideas, Please..... .

Ignition problem some place. Wrong firing order - plug wires on two wrong plugs. Wrong distributer. Off one tooth in timing gears.

Engine is not in time. Have you tried adjusting the timing by ear - turn the distributor to see what happens?

choke and/or throttle shaft loose in carb body ?
