Allis B Tune Up

Since it hasn't been done in a very long time I am planning on replacing the spark plugs and wires. What parts are one the magneto that I should change when doing a tune up. I know there is the condensor. I am also thinking I might need to adjust the carb. I haven't looked at the carb real well so I'm not sure if it is a Zenith or Marvel. What would I be looking at to determine which carb it is and what would I need to turn to adjust them.

Are you sure your problem is not caused by moisture in the gas resulting from condensation in the fuel tank? Have you checked the fuel bowl for presence of noticeable water?

Normal magneto parts to change are the cap, rotor, condenser and points. Parts are fairly expensive for the FMJ mag but are available. My '42B has a Zenith carb and the letters Zenith are cast vertically right in the bowl - no mistaking it. My carb has a single idle jet mixture adjustment. The main jet is fixed and not adjustable although I think some have adjustable main jets or have been retrofitted. The fixed main jet works just fine for me. There is course, an adjustment screw for the idle speed also. Normal setting for the idle jet mixture adjustment is 1 and 1/2 turns out from seated. That has always worked for me. The screw for that adjustment is located in the forward top portion of the carb body (not the bowl) - at least for the Zenith. The idle speed screw is located in back of the carb where the linkage hooks up.
