What,s the trip to installing new brake bands in this tractor? I have cleaned around the brake drum but the band seems to go in only as far as the bottom.

Hi,

No trick. Just make sure the hinge on the band assembly is free and use good old brute force to force the assembly around the drum.

feed a stiff wire around the brakedrum and attach it to the band. push and pull until it feeds aound the drum. it's tight, but it works. lol bob

then take the end of the #9 wire and bend a loop in it with a 1 inch hole. take a 3 foot prybar and stick thru the hole and pry aginst the housing to get more leverage and pull the brake band around an inch at a time.

Our CA had one broken band it pulled right out looked like it had been replaced befor put new pads on and welded it up works good
the other was hard to get out we got it pryed out the hinge was rusted up tight we aperently bent it when prying it out and were not abel to get the new pads to work had to replace the band we used the new aftermarket ones they had more slop in the hinge I dont think they are going to rust up like the others
