CA engine in a B tractor?

I'm way past ready to get my allis out of the weeds. A search for running engines turned up an engine out of a CA. What, if any, are the differences in engines?

Will my waterpump, mag, starter, torque tube, etc., bolt up or are there differences?

I don't know the year of the engine but my allis is a 1941 if that makes any difference.

Yes to all. The casting for a B, C, and CA are the same exept for the bolt holes for the generartor but the CA has them. The only difference is the bore. If you dont care about originality than yeah it will work fine. If you do than i suggest finding a BE engine off of a B.

Are you saying that the CA has both sets of bolt holes?

the original motor in the B was a BE, after the C went in production the BE was increased in bore size and called a CE motor. it was the same for the next 20 years, so yes, a CA motor (CE) will fit in the B tractor that had a BE motor. ---- the CE had a electric starter and a generator which might not be on the old B. there are a couple extra bolt holes ont eh block for the generator mount. the starter drive is all in the torque tube and flywheel modification, not the motor. the CA would have a distributor and coil to start, the BE motor would be a magnito, but either can be installed in either motor.

ELDON IS RIGHT ABOUT THE MAG. 41 B's ALSO HAD ELECTRIC START. POSSIBLY AS AN OPTION. BUT IT WAS AVAILABLE AS EARLY AS 40. PUT THAT ENGINE IN THE OLD B, AND IT WILL WORK GREAT. LOL BOB
