CA just quit!!???

I was mowing the grass today, and all of a sudden the tractor just quit. I thought at first it was out of gas, but upon further inspection that wasn't the problem. Took the cap off the distributor, spun the motor over and the shaft doesn't move. Pulled the distributor and the gear pin wasn't sheared. Looked down into the housing and gave the motor a spin, and that gear isn't turning either. Watched the oil pressure gage, hit the starter and no oil pressure. The oil pump is driven from the cam shaft. Apparently it's not turning. Can somebody tell me what happened? Is it fairly easy to fix, or is it mechanic or junk yard bound? Never heard of this before. My guess and this is just a guess would be a broken cam shaft gear or cam or maybe a pin on the cam/gear. But as I said this is a guess I don't know that engine

i would take off the hood and the valve cover, then turn the motor by hand and watch the valves go up and down. it the valves dont go up and down then i would think the pistons would be hitting the valves that are open, and motor would not turn. if the valves are not moving, then you have a problme with the gears on the front end and must remove the radiator, water pump and front flat plat over the cam gears for access. if the valves do move, but pump is not driving, then you might have to split the tractor motor from the bell housing and remove the pump for repair of the drive pin.

A CA, B, C, and RC engine all run with a three gear system. You have a Cam crank and timing gear. Since you have no oil pressure and your distributor is not spinning i would say you either broke your camshaft of ate the teeth off of it. It could also be that the crankshafts teeth have broke. I dought that you snapped either of them but the teeth could be chewed. You need to pull the front end off of it and remove your pulley from the crankshaft you can then expose the front plate. Take that off and youll have your problem. If you need a camshaft i have an extra out of a C engine that will fit and is in good shape.
