D17 Goes Slow

Hello all,

I just bought a D17 and when test drove her she ran fine. Now I have her at home and when in 3rd or 4th she starts slow and it seems that she can only reach 3-4 miles per hour. Any ideas?

I am changing the rest of the fluids tonight, put 30 SAE in Engine oil and Hyd Trans in the traction booster/Hydraulics. Putting 80W90 gear lube in the Trans tonight. Think that will help? I have no idea what the guy I bought it from had in her.

Does this slipping occur even when you have the power director clutch lever in the high range and low range? Depress the top button and move lever forward or backward until it locks in position and clutch should engage in that range. If it does not you have clutch/gear problems.

Now it's even worse. She won't go at all in 3rd and 4th with the PD in high or low. Did I put the right fluids in? I have been told it's the clutch slipping. A service tech here said it was going to be about $350 just to break her apart...Yikes!
