My father just purchased a D14 at an auction. We are unsure of the year. The battery is shot and needs a new one. I was wondering What years they produced the D14, and what voltage system is in it 6, or 12? Thanks in advance

D14 was produced from 1957 thru 1960. They were originally 6 volt positive ground but many have been converted to 12 volt negitive ground as it is inexpensive to do so. D14 had 30.91 hp at the drawbar and 34.08 at the belt pully.

D14 came out in '57, 6 volt, positive ground. Serial number is STAMPED on the left side of the torque tube, just to the rear of where the engine is bolted in. Starts with D14.....Has 26 inch rear rubber, about the same power as a WD45, but a few hundred pounds lighter.

JMS/MN, not a big thing but the D-14 has less horsepower than the WD and a lot less than the WD-45.

I noticed that too, from the other response with the actual hp. When they came out I remember hearing that they had about the same size engine as the WD45, but smaller rear wheels and lighter weight. Thought it was a step backward, but then they came with the D17.

When the D-14 was replaced by the D-15, the horsepower of the D-15 is quite close to the WD-45.
