I have a wd and the trans growls in second gear.Is this something to worry about or keep driving it until something happens.I have had people tell me that this is normal for these particular tractors. It does not jump out of gear under a load.

I have two WD's. One with serial number in the 50,000 range the other 150,000 range. The ealier
WD transmission growels loudly under a load. The
newer WD is quiet. The late WD transmissions were
changed to omit the loud transmission noise. So,
the noise you are hearing is probably normal.

Jack,

I have a '49 C, it does the same thing. I have been making hay with it for a while and have not had any problems. I just think of it as a song the tractor is singing.
