Help...Allis C....stalling out????

Hello All! I am new to antique tractors as of 1 year ago. I bought my first Allis 1948 C. It has been a mowing and little pulling machine. Until...last night...I was mowing and the governor starts reving up and down and then it stalls out. Now I have to jump it to start it and it will run for anywhere from 1 minute to 15 and then the governor revs and it stalls. It is getting gas to the carb (I took of the fuel line and checked that)....Does this sound like a float that is stuck or a governor problem...How can I make sure...(FYI...the mag and wires and plugs are new/rebuilt and I mowed with it once with these in place with no problems)...Any help is really appreciated....Thanks in advance!

Rev up like that sounds like a fuel problem, some carbs have a filter it the carb inlet that may be your problem. It could also be a clooged carb

little more info is needed.
--when it stalls, can you restart it within a few minutes? if so, then i believe you are runnign out of gas. check the gas tank bowl and tube in the tank, then carb bowla nd float level.--- if it will not restart untill it cools off, then the coil (spark) is probably breaking down when hot. will need a new coil or condenser.--- if it quit and never starts again, chekc that you have spark to the plugs. maybe the coil died.

I`ll give your suggestions a try. I really appreciate your input.

Steve, to give you a little more detail...I can restart it within a few minutes...But, it seems to be draining my battery (severely)...I mean to the point that it has to be put on a charger or jumped via my truck battery...The battery is less than 7 months old (its NAPA`s best commercial grade battery)...and the restart only lasts a couple of mowing strips...

you are runing out of gas. unscrew the glass bowl holder from the gas tinak. flush the tank, flush the line, drain the carb and flush it. you might have something like a walnut in the gas tank that is plugging the line now and then. if it makes two laps, it is probably not the float. --- since it starts right back up, it is not the coil.--- charge the battery overnight with a electric charger. that should last several hours running and dozen startups.--- to check charge, ground the F terminal on the generator and see if amp meter is full charge. best to put a volt meter across the A and F terminals and see if you get good voltage (with the F grounded). if that dont work, the generator is not working.
