The WD I bought recently is running rough and it seems that the No. 1 plug isn't firing. (I pull the No.1 plug wire from the mag and it doesn't change like when pulling the other three.) I pulled the mag off and brought it home and opened it up to find the points were set at .006 so I opened them to .020 like I read in the manual. I guess I'll take it back to the farm and put it back on, hoping that opening the gap will help.(I printed Duey's mag timing instructions to take along)

After reading several posts in the archives, I realized why mine has an external coil wired in, there is no coil in the mag. The rotor contactor seems badly worn and has been filed down quite a bit. I would like to get it back to an internal coil and replace the rotor and cap. Where is a good source for magneto parts?

I got it running pretty well this afternoon after adjusting the points and trying some other plug wires. I still want to replace the external coil for the original mag coil. Any sources out there?

Seems to me that if one plug is not firing, it is a problem between the mag and the plug- rather than the points, coil, etc. within the mag-other than the point of contact on that plug within the mag.
