Can someone tell me where the oil pressure gauge was originally located on an Allis WD?Thanks,Nolegs

It was down by the oil filter. If you look at the filter houseing you should see a pipe plug etc where the guage should go.

That has always puzzled me why various tractor manufacturers were so long in utilizing a dashboard to centralize guage location. It may well have been simpler and cheaper to have guages scattered all over the tractor but in my opinion, not very sensible. Truly not meaning to cut on any tractor company, as I like them all. I think it was simply a cost issue. Other companies did the same, but centralized earlier. AC had only three guages- ammeter, oil, water- easy to see each of them from the driver's seat, and no radio, CD, DVD, etc. to distract us while driving down the field. Good operation just meant checking each of them occasionally. All were just forward of the operator, in the general line of sight.

Thanks old.I think its funny where Allis located the gauges on the WD.With a good pair of binoculars I might be able to see the temperature gauge,and now I find the oil pressure gauge is in an odder place.

I alway thought it was strange where they put the guages on them but thats what they did. Guess they didn't want you to see a problem with them till it was to late.

Most people (they thought) couldn't read them anyways. Thats why we have IDIOT lights on our cars.
