d15 steering problems

I am looking at an allis chalmers d15 diesel but it wont steer to the left but it steers to the right fine if you take the loader and pick the front off the ground it will steer to the left can any one help me Thanks

The problem that you describe is probably caused by a broken pin or steering ram rod for the rack and pinion. You will have power steering in one direction because the steering ram can push the rack but you won't have power steering in the other direction because the ram can't pull the rack because of the broken pin or end of the ram or rack. You will have to remove the radiator shell in order to remove the plate on the right side that is held on with 4 countersunk allen head screws. This will allow you to see the steering rack to see if it is broken. Good luck.

I would assume the problem is with the valve or the steering ram, probably the valve. The valve is at the very end of the steer shaft, right where it goes into the box.
