I bought a WD a couple years ago with a new 60 inch Woods belly mower on it. It mows and runs great!! I want to change the power steering fluid in it and flush system if needed, there is nothing wrong with the steering, works fine. How much fluid does it hold and what brand or type should I replace it with? I have antique farmalls, the F-20, F-30 and my 1939 M were always in our family, and are know all restored and have been parade and show tractors for for more than 15 years. Hey thanks guys for all your help!!

If it is a Char-Lynn unit there is a filter inside the pump reservoir. The filter p/n is 7304. The same filter was probaly used in the Eaton power steering pumps used on the Fords from the 50s to early 60s.

I think you are on your own here becaue WD's did not come with power steering (only later model WD-45's had PS). You must have an after market unit.

It is probably a Char-Lyn torque multiplier. Is the power unit mounted in the middle of the steering shaft?

If so, the original oil was type A tranny fluid, but we have been running universal hydraulic fluid in one for 15 years or so, with no problems.
