I bought a W.D. ALLIS CHALMERS from another farmer and I trying to find out if it's a WD or is it a WD-45 the modle number on back of rearend is WD89297 I would be thankful for any information thanks the Mooman

The serial # says 1951 WD. If the gear shift lever is straight, you have a WD. As John says, you may have a WD with a 45 engine in it.

Based strictly on the serial no. It would seem to be a WD. Go to the left of this page, and find serial nos. If you check the serial nos. for WD and WD-45, you'll see the difference in how the nos. run.

Look on the side of the engine block, if there is a removable plate it is a WD block. If it is a WD45 engine the block will be solid and have no removable plate. After 50 plus years, there is no telling which crank is inside, also no telling how the engine, transmission and rearend have been switched around from one tractor to another. It would not be all that uncommon for all three of those items to have originally left the factory as part of 3 different tractors.
