A friend called and said he just purchased an Allis WD 45 Orchard. Question did they make such a tractor and how rare or did he get taken?

I think that I've read every Allis book ever written. Wendell describes an orchard tractor for the D series tractors. As Steve says, the WF is often shown in orchards because of its low profile. But there is no mention that I've seen of a Wheatland Version or an Orchard Model. Of course, a good sheet metal man can do marvelous things. Maybe he is just referring to big tires.

depends on what he means by "orchard".if he is talking about a low to the ground unit that is narrow, possibly he is talking about the WF model. Not really an orchard, but final drives turned 90 degrees, lowered to ground, narrow tread width, shares same parts at WD models.
----of coures it is possible that a 45 was modified by dealer or owner into a special application unit. dont think the factory made an "orchard".
