I have a chance to buy a 1952 AC- CA. Wide front, with a small loader w/downpressure & a working 3pnt. Tractor runs well & loader works fine, tin is o.k, complete, few dents. Paint is original/faded/ surface rust in spots. Rear tires are weighted & "fair", front tires hold air, but, need to be replaced. Can anyone tell me about these tractors? Are they are durable as the WC's? I have 2 WC's w/loaders & I think the world of them. What is the HP of this CA tractor? Basically, it needs an oil/lube job, basic tune-up, 2 new front tires, & a new muffler. I can buy it for $1,000, that seem fair? Thanks from Maine.

I believe a CA is rated with more HP than a WC. You'll love the little tractor. Yes check the hand clutch, they work differently than on a WD/WD45, and sometimes they give more trouble. Sounds like a good buy.

Josh, Good morning! If that CA Allis is anything at all and just needs a few things, like most of the used tractors do,then you better grab it for 1,000.00! A couple of things I would also check would be the tranny to make sure it's okay and see if the hand clutch works or not. That can be a little expensive to fix. Also does it run good, burn oil, hydraulics work and are power adjust rims rusted out? Just a few of the more expensive things to look at also. Having the wide front end and a loader definitely adds to the tractor! They are great little tractors though. I've got one and I use mine to mow grass with. I think they are somewhere around 24 - 26 HP...don't have my book handy. Good luck with your decision though,Josh. Take care. Rick

My dad and i are getting ready to put the finishing touches on our 1952 CA and the book rates it at 25 hp. Also if it has a set of working shutters thats a plus too but the hand clutch is very expensive ours was welded up and had to find one that could be rebuilt. Something else to look at is make sure what the oil pressure is that will tell you what shape the engine is in. Well for only a grand i would just jump on it, but thats me talking so good luck in your decision they are a very dependable tractor if it helps your WC'S are rated at 26 HP. -Tyler
