I pull a tractor at my local antique tractor club?IT is a CA ALLIS CHALMERS. I have been running the chain through the drabar on the back, and then another chain on the front to the middle/belly of the tractor. I am afarid I will break the cast piece of the belly of my tractor.Because I like my chains tight. Any idea on how to scure the front of the tactor? I thought about running a chain over the front tires would that work?
As for the back I will still be going throw the drawbar.

If you look at the chain on my Allis you can see that I use a clevis under the torque tube and cross the chain. I have done this for years and they don"t move. I use a three foot pipe on my binders to get the chains real tight. I make sure the tires squish and the binders snap. Like I said I have been doing it this way for years and never broke anything.

Tractor lover, I am a loss here, are you talking about the torque tube for the front chain? Does you CA have Narrow front end or Wide. When ever I hauled a narrow front I would hook chain to right front side of trailer make a loop around pedistle above spindles over to the left front side of trailer, put my binder across in front of tractor to hooking both chains, that way pulls evenly on both sides of pedistle. Life long friend(Truck driver for 40 years) taught me this method of hauling heavy loads. I'm sure there will be alot of other methods used on here.Use what ever is required for your State laws, Be Safe!!! Keith

When I haul my C allis trycycle tractor I put D Rings on the transmission and on the front pedastal where it attaches to the engine there are two holes where the side weight bolt into I also have D rings there and I chain my tractoe in four points. I also use a safty chain over the top of the trans. Here in Texas there was a new law passed not long ago that it stated that all towed vehicles must be attached it all four corners with safty back up chains. I know this beacuse a buddy of mine got a warning from the state trooper about his dirttrack car not being properly chained down.

Tx Allis Man,I am like you have always used two extra chains. One in front and one in back for safety, not because it is the law but for my piece of mind. I seen a tractor running down the road one time as the front chain came loose and no back chains, could have killed someone. I Always use the 4 corner tie down. also cross my safety chains under the coupler my Dad taught me this when I was young and foolish!!! AND now I am gttting old and Stupid...LMAO...Keith

Keith I understand the need of crossing the chains on the hitch as I had a brain fart once where I left the pin out of my hitch and sure enough as I drove off I felt a jerk and when I went to look there it was no pin in the hitch and the tounge of the trailer was setting on the crossed chains.I have seen people pull away dragging their ramps before.
