On a '39 B, 1) To be 'correct', should the rear rims be orange or silver? If silver, what color or number? Assume the rear centers are orange. 2) The front rims should be orange correct? Thanks...

From what I've read, most if not all early B's had Persian Orange wheels front and rear. Sometime after 1940, the rear Galvanized wheels started showing up. I have a 48' model B which has the Galvanized rear wheels. The front wheels from what I understand stayed Orange. Some I've read had a black pinstripe around the outside rim. Never saw one of those, but like Rod mentioned, do what you like. It's your tractor. I repainted my rear wheels with a Stainless Steel paint which was real close to the original Galvanized color...

Hi,

I happen to believe the earlier Bs had persian orange rims but others claim some were produced with galvanized (silver) ones. Good luck in getting anything definite. Take your pick out of those that respond. Paint them whatever you think looks best. It is, after all, your tractor isn't it? I used the early persian orange for my '42 B rear rims because I prefer that appearance. There seems to be less disagreement on the fronts as most say persian orange. I have seen silver there also but think it looks wierd and out of place. I know for sure the fronts on my B were originally orange. I have had it since new and there is some original paint left. Dad replaced the rear rims years ago before I knew or cared what color they were originally.
