I need help in determining the year of a tractor I just got from a friend- have been trying to work on the thing and get it going...with some luck. Here are the Numbers I was able to pull from the tractor>
Tractor# (behind the shifter- stamped #) B9270
On the axles...AM -2787-6 (end # possibly an 8 or S)
Under steering Column AM-2961-8
Engine AM-2916-10
There is a very odd looking stamped number on the L side of the place where the Tractor # is... J--29-U
Rear of Engine Block BE 7340

Can anyone help me figure this out???THANK YOU!

Sound like you have a 1938 model B, which was the second year they were built. Does this tractor have hand brakes?

yes, it has separate hand pulled brakes. Is there anywhere on these that the year is listed?

It is not listed on the tractor anywhere, but if you click on the serial number link to the left of this page you can research it. The early B's had hand brakes, but the did away with that in the later years.
