I'm starting a brake job on my B. Both drums are badly worn and the left one is cracked. What is the proper way to get the drum off or out?

you must take the final drive case off the transmission housing. wheel and hub off, 4 big stud nuts hold final to the trans. slide out 8 inches till top shaft pulls out of trans case. now you can loosen the brake drum and remove. it porbably will not be that easy, rusted to shaft and stuck. normally you need to remove the top shaft from the finald drive case by pushing it thru the drum and out of the case. puller on the drum sounds good, but what a pain. plenty of WD40, maybe some heat, consider putting new oil seals in the final drive and top sahft while you are here.

Remove the set screw through hole in axel housing and use pullers.
