I am having one heck of a time setting the time for this little tractor. is there anyone that could give me a hand with this one. I am not sure which is the number one piston as well. I am getting spark and fuel to the plugs just cant get the spark at the right time.... I think. any help would be appreciated. Also looking for a gas tank for this tractor if anyone has any ideas about where and how much.

The piston closest to the radiator is #1, then comes 2, 3 and 4 at the rear. The firing order is 1243. Depending how the previous mechanic installed the distributor, any position on the distributor can be made #1, but usually it"s the one farthest ahead and closest to the block. To be sure, remove all spark plugs, turn the engine over slowly while holding your thumb over #1 spark plug hole. When you feel air being forced out around your thumb, you know that #1 is getting ready to fire. Pop off your distributor cap and look where the rotor is pointing. That will be #1 on the distributor. Hook that wire up to #1 spark plug. The distributor turns clockwise so hook the next hole on the distributor to #2 cylinder, then to #4, then to #3.
