How can I determing if a tractor is a WD or a WD45 by looking at it? Is there a difference in the appearance of the engine? Thanks much.

The serial number is the easiest way yo tell. If the number is over 146,606, it is a WD-45. There is a plate on the right side of the engine on all WD's that acceses the valve lifters. No such plate exists on a 45 engine. However, a 45 engine could be put into a WD. And some WD's had 45 rear ends with the curved shift lever. A WD-45 will have the curved shift lever and an engine with out the plate on the right side of the engine.
