My tractor will start very quickly but then will shut off after a couple of seconds. Then to try and start it again you have to crank and crank until the battery almost goes dead. What I have been doing is a short burst of starter fluid in the air cleaner and it starts right away and will run just fine. After tractor is run and warmed up it will start and continue to run just fine. Some one told me that the position of the carb to the heads, the fuel is boiling out of the carb and that is why it will not start on the first start of the day. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dave T

take the gas line loose from the carb , and see if you are getting a good flow ( let it flow for awhile)..... COMMON PROBLEM FOR RUST TO PLUG THE GAS TANK OUTLET..... carb would need to be cleaned out also after you clean the tank

Sounds like dirt lodged in the enrichment passage or low float level. Could be a flow problem to the carb also...

well, if it starts very hard, but a shot of either makes it start, then i say you are not getting any gas or an air leak around the manifold. since it runs well after startup, that should eliminate the manifold problme. guess i would pull the carb, clean and rebuild.
