Anyone know if the hoods for a D-17 Gas and Diesel are interchangeable?

The gas and Diesel are different.
AND there's the LP version; which is shorter still, than the gas.

Thanks to all that responded. I will fix up the one that I have. The right side is nearly perfect. The left isn't too bad. I think I can make it right. I was just being lazy - buying a good one instead of fixing what I have.

I believe that the diesel hood is longer. I know the frame rails for a diesel are longer than the gas frame rails and I believe the hood is longer also, the reason I say that is because the decals are different between the diesel and the gas. Thats all I can tell you, we no longer have our diesel or else I would measure the length. If you have trouble, then get a good welding/body shop to make you a new one or fix your old up (if you have your old one). Good luck, if you need a picture of a diesel, I got one (its on the tractor page (I accidently put series IX instead of IV (I was about 10 or 12 at the time :). Good luck Ohh, and they are correcy, the gas had the air intake on the rear adn the diesel had it on the front. Not sure of exust, haven't paid attention, I just use the air intake as a guide between diesel and gas.

It would not be that hard to weld in a piece to cover the old opening, and cut out a new opening. If welded, ground down, and finished correctly, you would never be able to tell it was modified instead of an original hood.

I dont think so but dont quote me on it. I do believe that the air intake snout is in a different spot on the diesel

Sometimes I think my brain is on hold. The exhaust is on opposite side on the two. Not sure about the air cleaner. I think the gas is on the left rear and the diesel is on the right front. And I knew these things and still asked the question.
